Crime-free Christmas Tips
Most people associate Christmas with fun and laughter with family and friends, which sounds perfect to us.
Unfortunately, Christmas is also quite a lucrative time for burglars, which means heartbreak and distress during the happiest time of the year.
We want to help you enjoy a crime-free Christmas, which is why we’ve compiled a list of simple, free preventative measures we encourage you all to take, to ensure you, your family and your presents remain safe this Christmastime.
Make your home look occupied
Use timer switches to turn lights, radios, TVs etc. on and off.
Use your house alarm
If you have one, use it. Alarms are the main deterrent for burglars.
Keep windows and doors locked
Don’t give burglars easy access during the day or night.
Don’t leave keys out for family or friends
Burglars know the types of places you’ll leave a key. Don’t give them an easy access.
Don’t feed Christmas lights through open windows
Use solar or battery operated exterior Christmas lights or install outdoor electrical sockets.
Don’t leave parcel delivery notes on your door
Tell couriers in advance where to leave goods you’ve ordered online.
Don’t leave presents in your car
Bring presents inside after shopping and hide all goods in your boot when you’re out and about.
Keep valuables out of site
Burglars will look through windows. Don’t leave keys or valuables in sight.
Don’t leave boxes out for the rubbish collection
Don’t show thieves all the gadgets, clothes and jewellery you’ve got in your home.
Don’t post your whereabouts on social media
Don’t advertise your home is empty by posting where you are on social media.
