Meet our Latest Recruit: David
We’re delighted to introduce you to the latest member of our team; David Hutcheson. David will be joining David Robinson (this could get confusing!) on site, helping to install security systems as he trains on the job.
We asked David a few questions, so you could find out more about him.
What did you do prior to working for Locked and Secure?
“After leaving school, my first full time job was for a garden centre selling compost through a drive through window. I soon worked my way up to a handyman position where I was responsible for a wide range of tasks, which mostly centred around maintaining the store and its surroundings and facilities. One Christmas, I filled in for a staff shortage and found myself working as one of Santa’s elves. I went by the name of Merry Micky…
“Most recently, I’ve been a temporary worker, contracted to work for a number of different companies by a recruitment agency. Each week I worked somewhere new and carried out different tasks. While most of the tasks where a combination of picking and packing orders, occasionally I would get to do something interesting, like installing a huge inflatable tennis air dome or printing huge billboard size canvas art.”
Why did you want to work for Locked and Secure?
“I applied for the role at Locked and Secure because I was looking for a change of lifestyle. I wanted to improve my skill set and start a steady career where I could build and grow myself into a well organised adult that my parents had once envisioned.
“Working for many different companies as a temporary member of staff helped me realise the kind of company and environment I wanted to work in full time. I really liked the idea of working for a small, local company because they’re friendly always keen for their staff to learn new skills. Now I’m here, I can see why people always say they’ve got great customer service, too!”
What motivates you?
“My main motivation in life is one of change and travel. I am in my element when I have the freedom to move around visiting new and exciting places and meeting new people. Being an installer for Locked and Secure is ideal because I get the opportunity to go somewhere new each week and meet the challenges of installing our equipment in an ever-varied environment.”
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
“I am interested in geographical, geological and meteorological phenomenon and have spent some time travelling South Africa in search of interesting weather formations and chasing extreme weather. My main interest in this field is searching for the most striking picture I can take of the clouds and the surrounding scenery, and the rush you get from chasing a potentially dangerous thunderstorm. My favourite thing to photograph is lightning as it arrives in a wide variety of shapes, sizes and colour and is incredibly challenging to capture as most strikes only last for milliseconds.”
Welcome David; we’re enjoying working with you!
